Twelve Days of Christmas – Day 7

Welcome to Day 7 of the Twelve Days of Christmas tour! Our next stop is all about fancy folds. We’re starting with an easy one today, then building on what we learn a little by little. Come along with me and see how one simple fold can give your Christmas card a fun surprise!

Our first fancy fold is a gate fold card! The two front panels open like little doors, and a belly band slips around the card to hold it closed. I used Pool Party, Lost Lagoon, and Pretty Peacock with silver accents for a frosty, snowy look.

I stamped the Pool Party panels with Lost Lagoon ink, then ran the Basic White cardstock through the Dreamy Snowflakes Hybrid Embossing Folder to give it some snowy texture. A silver snowflake and a sequin add just the right amount of sparkle. You know I had to sneak a little in!

Directions:

  • Cut cardstock base at 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, score at 2 1/8″ and 6 3/8″
  • Fold and use bone folder for sharp crease
  • For the belly band cut a 1 1/2″ x 12″ strip, wrap around card securing in the back. Make sure you can slide it on and off the card easily.
  • Add Designer Series Paper or cardstock to the front panels. Then create a decorative piece for the front of the belly band.

Supplies:

Come back tomorrow for Day 8 of the Twelve Days of Christmas tour! We’re taking our fancy folds one step further with a little surprise tucked inside the card. I’ll show you how to make it, but I’m keeping the surprise under wraps until tomorrow!

Happy Stamping!

Jo
