Guide to Card Layers – Imperial Measurements

With this handy guide to card layers I have taken the guess work out of measuring your layers.  I know what a hassle it can be to try and measure in eighths or quarters to get a nice border. And borders rally make your card design pop! These can be used in any order, sometimes you might want a small border and other times a bigger one. Have fun and experiment!

Standard Card

A standard imperial card is a half sheet of 8 1/2” x 11” with the card front being 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″

There are two ways to cut, score and fold your card depending on the look you would like:

  • Cut card stock at 5 1/2” x 8 1/2” and score on the 8 1/2” side at 4 1/4”
  • Cut card stock at 4 1/4” x 11” and score on the 11” side at 5 1/2”
