Several months ago, I had watched a documentary about the ancient Japanese art of Kintsugi and it completely captivated me. Not just the technique, but the meaning behind it. The idea of turning something broken into something even more beautiful. It was like someone had taken a life lesson and dipped it in gold.
Can you imagine my surprise when I opened up my new catalog to find the Kintsugi Inspirations Suite? Once I saw this I knew I had to have it, it instantly brought that same feeling rushing back; grace, beauty, and the quiet power of embracing imperfection. I couldn’t wait to create with it and know you will feel the same.
Now let’s have a little lesson on this amazing art form and the beautiful meaning behind it.
Kintsugi: Turning Cracks Into Comebacks
Imagine you drop your favorite mug. The one with the perfect handle, the just-right curve, and all the good memories attached. Normally, you’d mourn a little, sweep it up, and maybe mutter something unprintable.
But in Japan, there’s an art form that looks at that broken mug and says, “Hold my tea.”
It’s called Kintsugi, and instead of hiding the cracks, it celebrates them. The broken pieces are carefully glued back together — not with invisible glue, but with gold. The result? A once-broken item that’s now more beautiful, more unique, and definitely more valuable. Because of the cracks. Not in spite of them.
Kintsugi isn’t just about pottery — it’s a way of thinking. A reminder that imperfections tell stories, and scars are proof of survival. It says, “Hey, you fell apart a little. But look how you shine now.”
It’s like life’s version of crafting with glitter: messy, unpredictable, and somehow better when you lean into the sparkle.
So next time something cracks (whether it’s a plate, a plan, or your patience), channel your inner Kintsugi artist. Glue it back together with gold, or metaphorical gold.
Just because something is broken doesn’t mean ruined. It means you can now rebuild it with flair!
Over the next week I will be highlighting each of the projects shown above.
We will start off with the birthday card that holds a secret surprise, then move on to the impressive golden card and finally a fun background using scraps. Of course there will be a Free PDF of directions with every card shown.

Be sure to join me on this journey as we explore Kintsugi and this amazing suite of products.
